The chief of the Israeli air force promises to respond more forcefully to the Houthi attacks

Following a new rocket attack on the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, Israeli Air Force chief General Tomer Bar has announced heavier counterattacks against the Houthi militia in Yemen.

Bar said on Wednesday during a ceremony at the Hatzerim air base in the Negev Desert in southern Israel that they have already attacked the Houthis three times. He said: “We will continue to increase the frequency and intensity of attacks as necessary.”

Israeli air defenses intercepted another missile fired from Yemen last night, according to military reports on Wednesday. Warning sirens sounded in many areas in central Israel for the second night in a row. People had to leave their beds and take shelter in safe rooms.

Such nighttime Houthi attacks have increased recently. According to media reports, a rocket fragment hit a house south of Tel Aviv.

Foreign Minister Israel Katz has already threatened that Israel would target and kill Houthi leaders. The militia then claimed to have uncovered spy rings run by Israel’s Mossad Secret Service and the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), which had collected information on Houthi leaders.

The Houthis, like Hamas in the Gaza Strip and the Lebanese Hezbollah militia, are aligning themselves with Israel’s arch-enemy Iran.
