It is also the 58th confirmed tornado to hit Ohio this year, according to Storm Center 7 weather specialist Nick Dunn.

The tornado was confirmed Sunday afternoon just southwest of Jackson near Mount Zion Road, according to the NWS.

It touched down near Mount Zion Road around 3:28 p.m. where some minor damage occurred to trees and “swirl patterns” were found in a hay field.

The tornado passed over State Route 139. It damaged more trees and an outbuilding.

It continued to hop, causing damage to trees in neighborhoods north of State Route, the NWS said.

The tornado struck a tree on a vehicle at Hope Haven School. Behind Rowdy’s Smokehouse, several trees have been blown over or uprooted.

“We did not sustain much damage, but our neighbors next to us and across the street suffered significant damage from vehicle loss, and significant structural damage,” they said on Facebook. “We will clear the rubble.”

It reached its estimated peak winds at 90 mph and crossed Main Street, tearing part of the supply roof off a tractor.

The tornado also overturned a semi-trailer in a parking lot and caused some roof damage in the Senior Village.

It continued to cause damage to US 35 near Pattonsville until it disappeared, NWS said.

The tornado lasted four minutes and traveled more than three miles.

This is the second confirmed tornado in Jackson County this year.
