The European Union is closely monitoring the situation in Iran following reports of an incident involving a helicopter with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on board.

“Following reports that the helicopter carrying the Iranian President and the Minister of Foreign Affairs had to land unexpectedly,” the President of the European Council said. Charles Michel said on social media platform X.

The condition of both Iranian politicians is “not yet clear,” Michel added.

“Together with EU Member States and partners, we are closely monitoring the situation,” he said.
