The first of two storm systems arrives in the Philadelphia region on Tuesday. Here is the weather forecast.

The NEXT Weather team is monitoring two weather systems in the Philadelphia region this week as we get closer to Thanksgiving.

System No. 1 arrives on Tuesday. It is a cold front that will quickly bring rain showers. Temperatures are too warm for snow and we expect only showers, mainly in the morning, with the heaviest between 5am and 8am, with totals under a quarter inch.

Skies will clear in the afternoon, but you can expect some wet roads and possible minor delays at the airport during your journey. The maximum temperatures are around 60 degrees. This will be the last mild day for a while.

Cooler air will arrive after Tuesday’s storm and highs will be back in the 50s again on Wednesday with mostly cloudy skies and dry conditions. It’s perfect for traveling the day before Thanksgiving.

Storm No. 2 arrives on Thanksgiving, likely bringing rain, mainly during the first half of the day. With highs around 50, this will be all rain, no snow. There may be a mix in the Poconos at this point, and rain should end by the evening. Roads will be wet and delays at the airport are possible.

It will remain dry on Friday with a few snow showers possible in the Poconos. In the evening a clipper system comes in from the northwest. It will be weak and low in moisture, so spotty rain showers with snow showers are possible in the Poconos and Lehigh Valley. Highs will drop into the mid-40s. When traveling in the area, roads may be damp in places.

Saturday and Sunday will be the coldest of the season, with much of the area in the low 30s during the day and dropping into the low 20s at night. Both days it will also be changeable with a mix of sun and clouds. Travel should be clear for anyone heading home, although wind chills will remain below freezing through the weekend, with patches in the teens at times. It will be very cold for those of you who plan to spend time outside shopping, putting up Christmas decorations, etc.

Next Sunday begins the month of December, which is also the start of meteorological winter.

Here’s your seven-day forecast:
