NEW YORK– The weather forecast for Halloween can be a mixed bag, moving forward several years the perfect trick-or-treating conditions And others an early taste of winter.
As we approach this year’s festivities, we have two words for you: warm and spooky.
In fact, several records are in jeopardy, with highs approaching or even exceeding 80 degrees.
As for trick-or-treating Thursday, temperatures will be in the high 70s to near 80 degrees in the afternoon, then lower 70 degrees as the night comes to an end.
Second longest dry period
We have been observing since Tuesday 29 consecutive days without rain. But believe it or not, the series may end.
Hail showers will occur in the area during the afternoon, with some isolated showers expected on Tuesday evening. These will likely dampen parts of the area, although the best candidates for measurable rain will be in the Hudson Valley, southwestern Connecticut and Long Island.
That said, the rainless period could be coming to an end, but the odds are not in our favor.
Temperatures are rising again
Due to the clearing spells that will take place on Tuesday night, it may cool down in the above-mentioned areas. Since the ingredients are good for patchy fog, expect some fog to develop in the early morning hours of Wednesday.
Wednesday will see unseasonably warm temperatures as we aim for the mid 70s. With more sun expected, you may want to extend your lunch break in the park.
After Halloween, we’ll be waiting for a cold front that has the best chance of bringing us measurable rain – and right now it doesn’t seem like much.
