The House of Representatives Ethics Committee announced that it has not yet made a decision on whether to release its report on former lawmaker Matt Gaetz, following a meeting on Wednesday in which panel members voted on whether to would make findings public.
The committee consists of five Republicans and five Democrats. Committee Chairman Michael Guest, R-Miss., told reporters after the meeting: “There was no agreement by the committee to release the report.”
Gaetz, President Donald Trump’s pick as U.S. attorney general, was the subject of a House ethics committee investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct and illegal drug use. Gaetz has denied all allegations.
The committee’s jurisdiction over Gaetz ended last week when he abruptly resigned from Congress after Trump said he planned to nominate the Florida Republican as attorney general. The committee has since faced pressure from both sides over the fate of the report.
