The leaders of New York and California are making friendly World Series bets

NEW YORK – The World Series betting is officially in.

Governor Kathy Hochul and New York City Mayor Eric Adams have challenged their West Coast counterparts.

Hochul challenged California Governor Gavin Newsom.

“This is my bet with you, Governor. If it turns out that I win, and I will, I demand that you display some Yankees memorabilia in your office. If the opposite happens, we will talk about it then, but I should do the same for you. So that’s my bet to you, Governor Newsom, that you should have some of our great Yankees swag, our memorabilia, displayed in your office and shown to a lot of visitors once we win this. series, so let’s play ball,” Hochul said.

Newsom’s response?

“Hey Hochul, the game continues. When the Dodgers take home the trophy, I expect Dodger blue not to be seen in the corner, but to be proudly displayed throughout your office,” Newsom said. “Look, for the first time in forty years, I recognize the Dodgers and the Yankees facing each other in the World Series. Mad respect. And mad respect for the Yankees’ proud past, your history. But as we say in California , we are in the future, California not only knows how to win championships, but how to hit them.”

New York Mayor Eric Adams had a similar challenge for Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

“My good friend, Mayor Bass, I challenge you. If we win, you have to wear the New York Yankees jersey around City Hall in Los Angeles. If we lose, which we won’t, I will wear the Dodgers jersey . City Hall here in New York. I’ve been looking forward to this great rivalry for many years, and I’m waiting to see you wear New York Yankees pinstripes at City Hall in Los Angeles. Let’s get started,” Adams said.

“Alright Mayor Adams, you’re coming along. I can’t wait to see you wear the Dodgers jersey at City Hall and all over New York City. Go Dodgers,” Bass replied.

The bets were placed before the series started, and the Dodgers took a 1-0 lead in the fall classic.
