The map shows how much snow Metro Detroit could see on Wednesday, with the coldest air of the season closing out this week

(CBS-DETROIT) – Another round of snow and very cold air is headed to Southeast Michigan.

Like last week’s winter round, a few snow showers will move on Wednesday evening. A snow shower is a fast-moving band of heavy snow. Because the showers move back and forth quickly, snow totals will not be high.

Most of Southeast Michigan can expect between 1 and 3 inches of snow Thursday morning. Northern Sanilac County can expect 2 to 4 inches.

The coldest air of the season will move in behind the snow. Highs will only be in the low to mid 20s on Thursday afternoon and in the upper 20s on Friday morning.

Lows will be in the teens Thursday and Friday morning. Highs will return to the 40s by the weekend, with a wintry mix possible for Saturday.
