The missing woman found in a retention pond in 2023 is believed to have drowned

Oct. 24—ROCHESTER — The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office completed the autopsy report for the Rochester woman whose body was found in a retention pond two years after she went missing. Her cause of death was drowning.

Jodi Boeckermann, 66, was found June 28, 2023, in a car located in a retention pond near Rochester Ready Mix on the 4000 block of 19th Street Northwest.

According to the medical examiner’s report, the manner of death is “undetermined,” as opposed to natural, accidental, homicide or suicide options.

Boeckermann was reported missing in November 2021 and was considered an endangered missing person due to her medical conditions.

Police responded to the retention pond, where the car was found after a caller saw a bumper floating in the water and believed a vehicle was also in the pond. The dive team responded and found a woman in the car.

At the time, Rochester Police Capt. Casey Moilanen said there was no evidence of foul play, but that investigators were looking into it.
