The Nasdaq is having its best Christmas Eve since 2000

The tech-heavy index rose 1%, which would be its best Christmas Eve performance since 2000, according to Dow Jones Market Data. The S&P 500, up 0.7%, was on track for its best Christmas Eve performance since 2011. With a rise of 0.4%, Dow Jones would record its best performance on this holiday since 2022.

Technology stocks have been rising for most of the month as Wall Street appeared to favor Big Tech and chip stocks despite persistent inflation data. The Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF is up 1.6% today, while the iShares Semiconductor ETF is up 0.8%.
