This year marks the 109th Pennsylvania Farm Show, the nation’s largest indoor agricultural show with animal exhibits, competitive events, square dancing and one of the most popular farm show attractions: the food court.
Located in the Expo Hall and Main Hall of the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center, the food court offers a variety of savory and sweet options made and grown right here in Pennsylvania.
This year, Farm Show attendees can expect a number of different options in the food court, including Pennsylvania Dairymen’s brand new milkshake flavor and new grilled cheese sandwiches on the menu. Other offerings new to the Farm Show include breaded mushrooms with hot honey from Pennsylvania Mushroom Farmers and loaded fries from the Pennsylvania Cooperative Potato Growers, Inc.

Here’s what you can try:
Stuffed Baby Bella Mushrooms
Today, more than 60 percent of all mushrooms produced in the U.S. are grown in Pennsylvania, and at the Farm Show, Pennsylvania Mushroom Farmers prepare the state’s No. 1 cash crop in a variety of delicious ways.
A tasty option is the stuffed baby bella mushrooms, which come with four bite-sized mushrooms in two flavors: artichoke and spinach or bacon and cheese. For an extra kick and a touch of sweetness, mushroom farmers are offering hot honey as a seasoning for their products this year.
The mushrooms are soft, flavorful and bursting in your mouth. Combined with a drizzle of hot honey flavored with cayenne pepper, this is a great starter for your dining hall quest.

Grilled Cheese
The grilled cheese offered by the Dairymen’s Association is reminiscent of childhood school lunches and comes in two flavors: cheddar and pepperjack. It’s a great on-the-go snack to keep you satisfied but not completely full as you wander past the other vendors.
Flying pork
When it comes to sandwiches, casseroles and hot dogs, the Pennsylvania Livestock Association brings the meat. Two of their most popular dishes that sell out quickly every year are the flying pork tenderloin, a tender pork and beef sandwich, and lamb stew. And it’s true, on the second day of the farm show last year they ran out just as I was about to order some.
Potato Donut
A fan favorite and a must-try item at the farm show year after year, the soft and slightly chewy potato donut is made with a secret dry starch blend and comes in three flavors: powdered sugar, plain and cinnamon sugar. Looking for a treat? Top it off with ice.
Mint milkshake
Mint seems to be the flavor in desserts that people either love or hate. If you’re a fan of mint chocolate chips (I am), then you’ll love the mint milkshake. It is quite refreshing in taste and thick in texture. The Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association has been a Farm Show vendor since 1955 and typically sells at least 1,000 milkshakes per show each year.
