ROSEMOUNT, Minn. — This season, all three starting positions on the Rosemount High School girls basketball team are held by the Ramlall sisters.
The youngest, Ashna, leads the point. At her side are the dichotomy Arshia and Amisha.
“They earned it and they deserve it. And you know, it’s just fun to see their work all come together,” head coach Chris Orr said.
It’s paying off in many ways. Amisha is a top recruit and willing to play for the Gophers early on.
“After I got the offer this summer, all I was thinking about was when, and it felt good,” Amisha Ramlall said.
For the opposition, seeing three sisters starting is quite a sight. The Ramlalls’ parents hear about it the most.
“‘Wow, three triplets!’ We always do [are called] triplets because we all look alike so that’s one we hear all the time. And like [they] say, ‘Wow, they’re really good shooters,'” Ashna Ramlall said.
The Ramlalls’ parents did not play basketball themselves and grew up in Guyana. But now they have a certified basketball family. Their son plays for St. Cloud State. Calling the siblings “competitive” puts it kindly.
“You want to beat them at whatever they do. And that was my goal as a younger sister. Just like beat her and beat my other sister at whatever it is,” Ashna Ramlall said.
“There’s a lot of competition. It gets a bit physical, you might say, but it only makes you better,” said Amisha Ramlall.
And when they work together, things flow.
“We know exactly what we are good at. If you drive and then shoot, we know exactly what to do,” said Arshia Ramlall.
