The robber had targeted four stores and restaurants in Chicago’s South Loop, Little Italy, within 40 minutes

CHICAGO (CBS) — Police issued a community alert Saturday about a spate of robberies at businesses in the South Loop and Little Italy the night before.

In each of the four incidents, the robber claimed to have a gun and handed the store or restaurant employee a handwritten note announcing a robbery — in a modus operandi more typical of bank robbers.

In two of the four incidents, the robber made off with cash.

The robberies took place on Friday evening, November 1, at the following times and locations:

  • At 6:23 PM, at the 1100 block of West Taylor Street, Little Italy.
  • At 6:50 PM, at the 600 block of West Roosevelt Road, South Loop.
  • At 6:58 PM, at the 1400 block of West Taylor Street, Little Italy .
  • At 7:02 PM, at the 500 block of West Roosevelt Road, South Loop.

The robber is a man and is wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, black pants, white and black sneakers and a black ski mask.
