Dec. 4 – CANNON FALLS, Minn. – Law enforcement continues to search for the 60-year-old man who went missing Monday while taking a walk with his dog in the woods in Cannon Falls, according to a news release from the Cannon Falls Police Department.
Cannon Falls Police are asking residents living in areas adjacent to the river to check any sheds or outbuildings, as well as under low-hanging foliage, according to a news release sent Tuesday evening, Dec. 3.
On Monday, December 2, CRPD received a report of a missing person from the 300 block of Larkspur Lane at 8:11 p.m.
The department is asking hunters with trail cameras covering the area to check if there is any footage that could assist the search.
According to Tuesday’s news release, a search was conducted in the wooded areas around the man’s home and along the Cannon River.
Officers previously established that a 60-year-old man went for a walk in the woods with his dog. Officers followed footprints in the snow leading into the woods.
Law enforcement officers deployed ground crews, aerial drones and amphibious drones on Tuesday to re-search previously searched areas and new areas, Tuesday’s news release said.
The active search was postponed Tuesday evening due to darkness, the release said. Due to high winds and falling temperatures on Wednesday, it will not resume until Thursday at the earliest.
According to the press release, Wednesday will be used to plan the next step in the search for the missing person.
Due to expected extreme weather conditions on Wednesday, December 4, CFPD is asking people not to search on their own.
The CFPD, Cannon Falls Fire Department and Cannon Falls Ambulance were assisted by the Dakota County Special Operations Team, Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office, Dakota County Sheriff’s Offices, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and fire departments from Randolph-Hampton, Miesville, Northfield , Red Wing, Wanamingo, Goodhue and Zumbrota.
