The sheriff’s office issues a written reprimand after the detective’s gun is stolen

A Clark County Sheriff’s Office detective received a written reprimand after their agency-issued firearm was stolen from a county vehicle Monday.

According to a previous report from News Center 7, two firearms were stolen following a series of car burglaries in the Northridge area.

News Center 7 obtained the written reprimand which identifies the deputy involved as Detective Scott Cultice, who is part of the sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division.

The reason for the reprimand is that there was carelessness and that the weapon was loaded and unsecured.

It is not clear if the car was unlocked at the time of the incident, as the document states that it was “unlawfully entered.”

The second firearm was recovered during an arrest in Montgomery County on Tuesday.

Agents with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office also arrested a possible juvenile suspect on Tuesday, News Center 7 previously reported.

Officers are still searching for the service-issued Glock 19 9mm pistol.

“The Sheriff’s Office will continue to follow any leads that may be discovered regarding the theft and the possible whereabouts of the firearm. Recovering stolen firearms is a serious concern for investigators because of the dangers that can be associated with the unlawful use of a firearm,” a sheriff’s office spokesperson told News Center 7.

We will continue to follow this story.
