The Thunderbirds are coming to Northern Colorado in 2025. Here’s what we know

The Thunderbirds will headline the Great Colorado Air Show at Northern Colorado Regional Airport next year.

The air show, featuring the U.S. Air Force’s F-16 Fighting Falcon, is scheduled for September 20-21, 2025, at Loveland Airport, which is jointly owned by the cities of Fort Collins and Loveland.

The Thunderbirds have chosen the airport for a demonstration and air show, acting airport director Francis Robbins told members of the Northern Colorado Regional Airport Commission on Thursday. The board voted to allow participation.

In 2021, the Great Colorado Air Show brought the Blue Angels to the airport, attracting more than 28,000 people.

According to a report presented to the commission Thursday, that show brought in about $140,000 for the airport. Robbins said a similar windfall is expected for the next event.

The airport and Air Show Network have agreed to collaborate on additional events to help fund investments in traffic studies and event safety for the 2021 show.

The last time Fort Collins saw the Thunderbirds was when they used the airport as a base for their 2022 show at Cheyenne Frontier Days.

In 2020, they flew over Northern Colorado to honor the work of those on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Great Colorado Air Show website announces the 2025 date, but has no information yet on tickets or other performers.
