WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Federal Election Commission named a Republican presidential candidate on Tuesday Donald Trump a second 45-day extension to file personal financial disclosures.
Trump was initially scheduled to report on his personal financial situation to the Federal Election Commission on May 15, but was granted an extension until July 1 upon request.
A legal representative of the former president asked the agency on Tuesday to grant the candidate another extension, citing the complexity of his financial assets, according to a copy of the letter released by the agency.
A second letter released by the agency showed the request had been granted. “A paper copy of the report with Mr. Trump’s original signature should be completed now and must be received by the Federal Election Commission by August 15, 2024,” that letter added.
Trump’s financial disclosures are closely watched because they provide an indication of the extent of his personal wealth.
