The weather is keeping pilots away from the annual Branch County Memorial Airport Fly-In

BRANCH COUNTY – Cloud ceilings ranging from 200 to 500 feet kept all but a few Michigan pilots from the 79th Branch County Memorial Airport Fly-In Sunday.

A car show, boat and strength sports shows drew a crowd of about 500 people from the community to the pancake breakfast, about half the usual number.

The Aviation Club of Branch County is hosting the event to raise scholarships.

Annually, local students receive funding to pursue careers in aviation, many at Western Michigan University.

Elite Air Service, the regular base operator, provides the pancake breakfast in its hanger.

Some pilots flew mid-morning as the cloud ceiling rose to 500 feet.
