BOSTON – If you have New Year’s Eve plans in Boston or anywhere else in Massachusetts, be prepared for the latter rain.
The timing of this will be crucial given the number of people who will be celebrating on Tuesday night.
At this time it looks like rain will fall between 10pm and midnight on Tuesday. It will arrive earliest in areas south and west of Boston, and latest in northeastern Massachusetts.
It will again be a rapid development, with only a few final sprinkles leaving the shoreline by mid-morning on New Year’s Day.
First night Boston forecast
So if you’re heading out on Tuesday, perhaps to First Night in Boston, make sure you pack some rain gear for later in the evening.
Clouds will increase later in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be mild, peaking in the low 50s in the afternoon and dropping to the low 40s at night. Rain will fall again around or just before midnight.
Precipitation amounts will be similar to the last storm, mainly between 0.5 and 1.0 inches.
That won’t be enough to cause significant flooding, but there could be some large puddles on the roads in the early hours of Wednesday.
New Year’s Forecast
It seems calm but cold weather for the first few days of January 2025.
Later this week and throughout next weekend, temperatures will mainly be around 30 degrees, with fairly persistent, blustery winds.
