NEW YORK — This weekend, June 1-3, there will be another round of closures on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.
This is the final round of repairs is performed to extend the life of the BKE.
BQE Closures June 1-3, 2024
The Queens-bound side will be completely closed from the Atlantic Avenue ramp to the Manhattan Bridge exit at Sands Street from 2 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday.
The Staten Island-bound BQE remains open.
The following slopes will be closed:
- Third Avenue ramp (open to buses only)
- Sixth Avenue ramp
- Prospect Expressway ramp (HOV lane to HLC tunnel open)
- Atlantic Avenue ramp
Detour signs will be in place to assist motorists.
Detour BQE Atlantic Avenue

Drivers should get off at Atlantic Avenue, turn left onto Boerum Place, then turn right onto Tillary Street and take the on-ramp to the BQE.
BQE Third Avenue ramp diversion

Drivers will exit the Gowanus Expressway at Exit 21 for Third Avenue. Drive along Third Avenue, then turn left onto Flatbush Avenue and turn right onto Tillary Street to take the on-ramp to the BQE.
Detour BQE Prospect Expressway

Drivers will travel along the Prospect Expressway toward the Gowanus Expressway and then exit at Hamilton Avenue. Turn right onto Hicks Street and then right again onto Atlantic Avenue. Turn left onto Boerum Place, then turn right onto Tillary Street and take the ramp to the BQE.
Detour BQE Linden Boulevard

Truck drivers exit the Gowanus Expressway at Prospect Expressway and then the 10th Avenue exit. Turn right onto 10th Avenue and then left onto McDonald Avenue. Turn left again onto Caton Avenue and then continue onto Linden Boulevard. The detour takes truckers to Conduit Avenue with connections to the Nassau, Van Wyck and Long Island freeways.
