In a 911 call obtained by News Center 7, a woman who lives on McArthur Avenue tells dispatchers that someone just shot up her son’s bedroom.

“They’re shooting now, they’re shooting now!” she said.

The woman panics when the dispatchers tell her to move away from all the windows.

The dispatcher asked her if she knew who was shooting.

‘No, I don’t. We slept peacefully here,” the woman said.

Several bullet holes can be seen on the outside of the house.

Neighbors said this wasn’t the first time a house on the block had been shot.

They expressed concern about the fact that children often play outside.

News Center 7 asked community members what could be done to make Dayton safer.

“Programs and parents raising their children instead of children raising children,” said William Boatwright.

Boatwright said it upsets him when he sees things like this happening in his neighborhood.

“It’s just sad. There is nothing that can be considered normal. This is not normal,” he said.

The homeowner said they are glad no one was hurt, but she is heartbroken that her son’s room was destroyed.

“They destroyed his room, his bed and the wall, everything is shot and there are holes in it,” she told the dispatcher.

We are investigating whether the police have suspects and what led to the shooting.

We will continue to follow this story.
