Investigators are looking for thieves they suspect are responsible for a string of burglaries at LEGO stores in Southern California.

One of the owners of Bricks & Minifigs in Whittier says seven stores have been hit since early April, resulting in more than $100,000 in merchandise stolen during at least seven separate incidents.

A Riverside location was first affected on April 3, followed by stores in Ontario, Whittier, Irvine, Costa Mesa, Anaheim and Riverside.

Suspects are often caught on surveillance cameras forcing entry, usually by breaking a store window, before searching store shelves.

Stores in Costa Mesa and Anaheim were hit early Sunday morning by the latest crimes against the resale chain. Fullerton police say even though a window at the Anaheim location was broken, the man did not actually enter the store.

Bricks & Minifigs stores are independently owned by families.

LEGO thefts have been an increasing problem across the country in recent weeks due to the high cost of some sets, which can range from $400 to $1,000.
