PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — This weekend, Philadelphia is a paradise for foodies, runners, music lovers and fall enthusiasts.

Musical acts Weezer, Twenty One Pilots and Kehlani will all be hitting the stage in the Philadelphia area this weekend. Center City Restaurant Week is also still in town to keep foodies fed and their wallets protected. Plus, distance runners are gearing up for the Philadelphia Distance Run on Sunday.

City Center Restaurant Week

Sunday marked Center City District Restaurant Week, highlighting Philadelphia’s best and most diverse cuisine, from sushi to seafood to burgers to craft booze.

Philadelphia Distance Run Half Marathon & 5K

As summer winds down, distance runners are gearing up for Sunday’s The Philadelphia Distance Run. Runners will line the Schuylkill River in pursuit of a new personal best, with the city’s historic skyline as their backdrop—the perfect blend of nature and the urban charm of the City of Brotherly Love.

The famous Half Marathon costs $145 (increasing to $155 after Saturday). The Half Marathon has a fast, flat course through city streets and along Kelly Drive.

The 5K, which starts at 7 a.m., costs $60 ($75 after Saturday).

Virtual options are available for both the half marathon ($65.00) and the 5K ($35.00).

All registrations include race entry, a race tech T-shirt, chip timing with split times, a finisher’s medal and access to the lively post-race party, complete with a free beer for participants aged 21 and over.

The Philadelphia Distance Run has a rich history of fast times, with no fewer than six world records broken during the race. It is an event that serious runners should not miss.

Virtual participants have until 10am on race day to register for their runs. The race does not offer refunds, but does offer other options. You can visit their website for more information.

Weezer Brings ’90s Nostalgia to Wells Fargo Center

“Say It Ain’t So!” Beloved ’90s rock band Weezer is coming to the Wells Fargo Center on Friday night. The music makers are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their Blue Album (aka their Weezer album) on tour and are set to perform the iconic album in its entirety in South Philadelphia. The Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr. are also on stage.

Tickets are sold out on Weezer’s website, but available through Ticketmaster. Don’t miss this night of 90s nostalgia and American rock, starting at 7pm.

Twenty One Pilots Rocks South Philly

Twenty One Pilots will also be rocking the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday night. The alternative music duo is bringing The Clancy World Tour to South Philadelphia with Balu Brigada. But don’t get “Stressed Out” because tickets are still available online starting at $79.50.

The Twenty One Pilots show starts at 7:45pm, Wells Fargo Center doors open at 7:00pm

Kehlani’s Crash World Tour at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion

Multi-talented Bay Area artist Kehlani will be just over the bridge at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden on Saturday for the Crash World Tour. No need to stay ‘After Hours.’

Featuring British girl group FLO and Atlanta it-girl Anycia, there’s no need for a “cardboard box” because everyone is “Back Outside.”

The energetic, packed show starts at 8pm and tickets at LiveNation start at just $29.75. Tickets for this event at LiveNation are priced all-inclusive.

The Crash World Tour was announced shortly after their fourth studio album “Crash” and the recent release of the long-awaited sequel “While We Wait 2”.

Affion Crockett at Punch Line Philly

Beloved comedian Affion Crockett is joining Punch Line Philly for two nights of laughs. Best known for his roles in “A Haunted House” and “Wild ‘N Out,” Crockett will be taking the stage for four shows between Friday and Saturday nights.

The “Soul Men” actor will take the stage Friday at 7:30 and 9:45 p.m., and Saturday at 7:00 and 9:15 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime, and tickets start at $41.50. Don’t miss your chance to see Crockett in action at one of Philadelphia’s favorite comedy clubs.

Philadelphia Fringe Festival 2024

The 2024 Philadelphia Fringe Festival is in town through September 29, showcasing more than 300 artists and companies across multiple venues. Attendees can experience a diverse lineup of performances, including ancestral shows, live comedy, and an ADHD Mixtape.

The public is invited to join in the month-long celebration of art across media. Tickets are sold per event and are available at PhillyFringe.org, where the full lineup can be explored. Don’t miss the chance to immerse yourself in one of the city’s most exciting arts festivals.

Mexican Independence Day Festival

Mexican Independence Day is celebrated on September 16. Those who want to celebrate early can head to Penn’s Landing on Sunday for a free, family-friendly festival.

The Mexican Independence Day Festival begins at 2:00 p.m. and ends at 8:00 p.m. at the Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest. The event is part of the PECO Multicultural Series and will feature traditional Mexican crafts, children’s activities and performances by well-known Mexican artists.

The Mexican Consul in Philadelphia will lead the “Grito de Independencia” ceremony, marking the beginning of the Mexican independence movement.

The festival ends with a fireworks finale, but the fun continues on Cherry Street Pier with the Mexican Independence Day After Party. Attendees can enjoy a happy hour menu featuring Cantina La Martina, La Placita, and Irv’s Ice Cream.

Coastal Carolina vs. Temple

Saturday is the day again: the American Football tournament in South Philly, where the Temple Owls will take on the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at 2 p.m.

Temple is hoping to get their first win since Nov. 4, 2023, here at Lincoln Financial Field against the Chanticleers, a team currently atop their division in the Sun Belt Conference. The Owls enter Week 3 of the season with just 14 points, while their opponents have scored 89.

Fans can purchase tickets for this match starting at just $12.

Haddon Township Fall Festival

If you’ve already started lighting those fall candles and find yourself staring longingly out the window with a sweater on and a warm cup of tea in your hands, chances are you’re ready for a fall festival.

Celebrate the fall season early along West Park Boulevard and Crystal Lake Avenue in Haddon Township, New Jersey. The festival features an apple pie baking contest, a wing eating contest, a car show, live music, dancing, rides, bounce houses, obstacle courses, food trucks, health and wellness activities, arts and crafts from local artisans, and community group tables.

Some A-list cameos include Cinderella, Elmo, Spider-Man, Captain America and Princess Elsa.

There will also be a Jam Fest at Crystal Lake Pool with live music, a beer garden, food trucks, ping pong, corn hole and more! The Haddon Township Fall Festival Street Fair runs from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Jam Fest runs from 1 to 9 p.m.
