Third suspect arrested in connection with fatal Stockton shooting

(BCN) – A third suspect was arrested this week in connection with the death of a man found in a vehicle in Stockton in April.

Sir James Roots, 19, has been identified as a suspect in the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Boivae Martinez Jr. on April 6.

Police said that after a warrant was issued for Roots’ arrest, he committed two robberies on Wednesday that led to him being apprehended by officers.

He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.

Stockton parents arrested on suspicion of baby’s death

Police reported that on the day Martinez Jr. was killed at 12:42 a.m. that day were on scene at Wood Duck Circle and Quail Lakes Drive for a report of a single-car accident.

Martinez Jr. was found by officers in a vehicle on top of a median with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

In May, 18-year-old Jadari Benson was arrested by San Joaquin County sheriff’s deputies following a traffic stop. Rafael Galvan, 18, was also held by Long Beach police on his warrant.

All three suspects are believed to have been involved in the murder of Martinez Jr. and have been booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.

Police say the investigation into the shooting is still ongoing.
