This is how you can help animals

STRATHAM – The New Hampshire SPCA will host its annual Paws Walk on Sunday, June 2, at Stratham Hill Park.

The dog-friendly event benefits homeless animals and provides lifesaving care, medical treatment and other support services. With just a few weeks left until the day of the event, the NHSPCA is calling on the community to help them reach their $130,000 goal by raising or donating money.

The Paws Walk is the NHSPCA event responsible for giving thousands of unwanted, neglected and abused pets a second chance every year. Organizers say the success of this event comes directly from generous local animal lovers, who sign up to walk and raise vital funds through their own networks.

There will be lots of fun to be had on Paws Walk day with MC Kelly Brown of iHeartMedia’s The Morning Buzz and music from DJ Lori D. In addition to the walk, participants can shop for local goods and enjoy food truck treats in the vendor village and view talented dogs in action by the New England Agility Team, Working Dog Foundation and Heart Stone Farm.

There will also be farm animals, children’s activities and adoptable dogs looking for their forever homes.

“Paws Walk is so important to our daily activities at the NHSPCA,” said Sheila Ryan, development director at the New Hampshire SPCA. “It’s a great event that brings out the best in our community, and most importantly, it’s a vital fundraiser.”

Ryan said the NHSPCA has seen a significant increase in the number of animals coming to the facility over the past year.

“Many are transported from overcrowded shelters in the south, while others are rescued from heartbreaking neglect and cruelty,” she said. “The money raised from Paws Walk allows us to provide vital life-saving services including veterinary care, nutritious food, behavioral assessments and much more. These animals get a second chance thanks to our Paws Walk supporters. Every dollar raised matters, and we are extremely grateful to everyone who contributes to this event.”
