The Bourne Rotary is a Cape landmark, known for its clipped hedges that spell out “Cape Cod” and the traffic after the bridge. But for one YouTuber, the Bourne Rotary is much more than an iconic traffic circle—it was home base for the night.

Thrill-seeker and daredevil Wes Wherever posts videos of his outdoor adventures in unexpected places across the country. Over the past few months, Wes has documented a cross-country RV trip with his mother and her dog, starting in Pennsylvania and working his way up the East Coast, amassing 30,000 subscribers in the process.

In every state, Wes has uploaded videos of himself secretly camping, also known as free camping or boondocking, at various unconventional campsites. The Bourne Rotary was one of his most recent locations.

How did Wes Wherever camp at Bourne Rotary?

During his journey, Wes has camped everywhere from an abandoned mansion on an island in New Jersey to an old highway tunnel in Pennsylvania.

Wes knew he wanted to try a roundabout, which he calls a traffic circle, and he was determined to find the perfect one. Wes and his mother had planned to drive through Cape Cod from the beginning of their trip, and when they reached the Bourne Rotary three weeks ago, Wes knew he had found the right place.

Due to heavy traffic and state police around the roundabout, Wes waited until dark to cross the road to the central island of the roundabout. Once he was in his place for the night, Wes treated himself to a New England lobster roll and Cajun fries.

The overnight camp was a success – Wes was not thrown off the turntable and he even slept soundly. Wes’ only complaint was the pine resin that covered all of his gear and clothing, but that was nothing that an authentic Massachusetts breakfast from Dunkin’ couldn’t fix.
