Three people were charged late Thursday when state police allegedly found drugs, cash and a handgun with a high-capacity magazine during a traffic stop on Route 7 in North Canaan.
The stop occurred around 11:15 p.m. and led troopers to suspect the vehicle’s occupants were in possession of drugs, Connecticut State Police said.
State police said two people in the vehicle allegedly provided false names before a K-9 unit was called to the scene. The narcotics detection dog alerted troopers to the presence of drugs in the vehicle, which was then searched by state police.
State police alleged that troopers found a “significant amount” of crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, an unregistered handgun, a high-capacity magazine and a “large amount” of cash.
Amanda Wells, 37, of New Milford was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a firearm or ammunition and one count of sale of a narcotic drug, use of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of a large capacity magazine and disrupt with an officer. She was being held on a $25,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Torrington on Friday.
Joshua Marcy, 32, of Danbury, and Dustin Yeomans, 33, of New Milford were each charged with interfering with an officer. They have been released and will appear in court on November 25.
