Thursday will be sunny in Philadelphia, but rain will return this weekend. Here’s more on the timing.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — High pressure will still dominate the Philadelphia area on Thursday, but things will start to change somewhat after that.

Humidity will increase slightly towards the end of the work week, but temperatures will still be around or slightly lower than normal, with highs around 27 degrees Celsius through Friday.

No rain is expected for most of the week until late Friday when our next system moves in. An approaching low from the Mid-Atlantic will meet a cold front from the west. Friday will see more cloud, but it should remain mainly dry except for maybe an isolated shower or two due to some moisture coming in from a coastal low far offshore.

Right now, it looks like rain is more likely on Saturday, especially in the afternoon and evening as the front approaches. It looks like the rain from the system will continue south of the Carolinas, meaning we will see more showers along the advancing cold front.

It doesn’t look like it will wash out completely on Saturday, with scattered showers likely in the evening. Temperatures will climb into the mid-upper 70s on Saturday, with mid-70s and clear skies on Sunday, as a reinforcing wave of cool, dry air arrives through the first part of next week.

The NEXT Weather Team will keep you updated on changes this weekend, but for now, enjoy this great weather in early September.
