Tigers take on Lions’ former rival Aaron Rodgers in a scoreboard trivia game

The Detroit Tigers defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 10-2 on Sunday at Comerica Park. That was the main attraction at Comerica Park.

But during a lull in the action, the scoreboard operator took the opportunity to troll a former rival who previously played for another Wisconsin team and supported another of the city’s teams, the Detroit Lions.

For a trivia question to an attending fan, the in-game entertainment team posted photos of New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Lions linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin side-by-side, asking, “Who had the most completions last season?”

WXYT sportscaster Brad Galli posted a photo from the scoreboard question to social media.

As I’m sure most NFL fans know, Rodgers didn’t complete a single pass last season after suffering an Achilles injury four times in the Jets’ Week 1 game against the Buffalo Bills.

Meanwhile, Reeves-Maybin had a completion despite playing defense and special teams. During the Lions’ Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys, he completed a pass to Khalil Dorsey on a fake punt in the second quarter.

Detroit fans love to hold grudges and pick on a rival. And everyone in Comerica Park certainly laughed at the trivia question. All very nice!

But Rodgers could point to his career scoreboard and have the last laugh about those fans, the Lions and the scoreboard operator. In 26 games against Detroit while quarterbacking the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers compiled an 18–8 record and completed 65% of his passes for 6,551 yards and 54 touchdowns.

Packers fans would also surely point out that Rodgers won a Super Bowl championship with Green Bay, while Detroit has never been to “The Big Game.” Okay, the NFC North rivals can take care of it on the field this season.

The Lions and Jets are not scheduled to play against each other in 2023-2024. Their next scheduled matchup is in 2026. Unless the two teams were to meet in the Super Bowl, which would lead to a whole new scoreboard game.
