The continuation without a verdict in Taunton Mayor Shaunna O’Connell’s domestic violence lawsuit has more ramifications than if the charges were merely dismissed, which is the outcome O’Connell’s attorney initially sought.
A judge rejected O’Connell’s request to dismiss the charges at a hearing in October, and as a result the case headed toward a jury trial, but ultimately O’Connell’s attorney and the prosecutor were able to reach an agreement. .

Dighton-Rehoboth’s principal resigns halfway through the school year
Dighton-Rehoboth High School Principal Jacqueline Ash has announced her resignation after 18 months in the position.
Her last day will be January 17, 2025.
“After 38 years in education, the time has come for me to start a new chapter, although it will not be easy to leave this exceptional school community. It has truly been a privilege to serve as principal and witness the remarkable growth and success of our students,” Ash said in her resignation letter.

Mayor Shaunna O’Connell announced in a press release that seniors in Taunton will receive free trash bags for another year.
After an initial rollout in 2020, the program has evolved to offer free trash bags to all seniors 65 and older living in a 1- to 4-unit building, regardless of income level.
