TotalEnergies selects SLB OneSubsea for offshore Angola project

TotalEnergies has awarded a contract to SLB’s OneSubsea joint venture for the Kaminho deepwater project offshore Angola.

The contract concerns a 13-well subsea production system, including associated equipment and services.

The French oil and gas group and its partners in the block intend to develop the Kaminho project in two phases, focusing on the Cameia and Golfinho discoveries in Block 20/11.

During the first phase, focused on the Cameia field, SLB OneSubsea will collaborate with TotalEnergies to deploy a configurable subsea production platform.

This system will consist of standardized vertical monobore subsea trees, drill heads and control systems designed for optimal efficiency.

The project is expected to deliver more than ten million man hours in Angola, with a focus on offshore operations and local shipyard construction.

SLB OneSubsea’s local support in Angola covers a wide range of offshore activities including assembly, module manufacturing, installation, commissioning and field lifecycle services.

The Kaminho project targets first production in 2028 and is expected to produce around 70,000 barrels of oil per day.

In addition to SLB, OneSubsea, which has 10,000 employees worldwide, is supported by Aker Solutions and Subsea7.

Mads Hjelmeland, CEO of SLB OneSubsea, said: “We are excited about this opportunity to unlock the significant potential of the Kaminho project together with TotalEnergies. Our collaborative contracting model allows us to leverage both standardization and highly configurable subsea production platforms, creating greater efficiencies and long-term value for this and future projects in Angola and around the world.”

This contract is the result of a ten-year partnership between SLB and TotalEnergies to develop next-generation digital solutions aimed at improving access to energy resources, enhancing performance and increasing efficiency.

The initial focus of this collaboration is on digital solutions for the subsurface, with special attention to reservoir engineering and geoscientific modelling and interpretation.
