A second incident on the Bay Bridge is impacting traffic Friday morning after a westbound tractor trailer caught fire near Treasure Island, forcing lane closures, according to CHP.

CHP issued a severe traffic alert at 9:23 a.m. after the tractor-trailer fire just east of Treasure Island closed the right and center lanes of the bridge.

KCBS Traffic posted about the fire at 9:12 a.m. with a Caltrans photo showing flames coming from the truck.

X user @maksim_ioffe posted a video of the trailer fire just minutes earlier, showing the trailer fully involved and the truck’s cab driven to a safe distance.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but the westbound lanes remained closed for some time. CHP said the center lanes had reopened shortly before 10 a.m., but the right lanes were still blocked.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and use alternative routes to avoid the area. There is no estimated time to reopen the roadway.

Earlier Friday morning, Another severe traffic alert was issued eastbound on the Bay Bridge following an injury accident involving a driver who was reportedly traveling at nearly 100 miles per hour. The incident closed the lanes for an hour.
