Traffic shift planned on Interstate 69 in Delaware County

MUNCIE, Ind. – An Indiana Department of Transportation contractor plans to shift traffic on Interstate 69 in western Delaware County.

Beginning Tuesday, May 28, crews from Milestone Contractors will close the inner northbound and southbound lanes of the Ind. Freeway. Close 332 and Bethel Avenue. According to an INDOT news release, motorists in this area will use the right lane and shoulder of I-69 northbound and southbound.

This closure will allow crews to install barrier walls along the median. After crews install the barrier walls, they will begin work on a temporary bridge over Killbuck Creek. The traffic shift will remain in this configuration for northbound Interstate 59 and will return to the normal two-lane configuration for southbound I-69 through the end of July, weather permitting.

Drivers are reminded to consider worker safety by slowing down, using caution and avoiding distractions when traveling in and near work zones, the news release said.
