Travel, food and music in the Canandaigua region this week. Here are a few things you can do.

The Beach Boys famously sang, harmoniously, and awe-inspiringly, “I Get Around.”

The Eagles sang, also famously, harmoniously and awe-inspiringly, about “Life in the Fast Lane,” a song we’re sure you’ll hear later this week during a performance at the Fort Hill Performing Arts Center in Canandaigua.

But how did people in the past get around or maneuver the intricacies of the fast lanes in the Finger Lakes region? There are a few ways to find out.

Here’s what’s happening this week.

1. Who wants spaghetti? The Bloomfield Lions do

The Bloomfield Lions Club’s next spaghetti dinner is Wednesday, October 9 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM (or until sold out) at Veterans Park, 6910 State Routes 5 and 20, East Bloomfield. The cost is $12 for children 13 and older; $6 for ages 12 and under. The menu includes spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread and ice cream.

2. All about food and the Erie Canal in Farmington

Erie Canal Museum docent Derrick Pratt will present “Erie Eats: The Erie Canal Food Ways Project” at Farmington City Hall, 1000 County Road 8, Farmington, on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. The program is the second of three presentations as part of the Farmington Historic Preservation Commission’s fall lecture series. 3. ‘Trolleys, Trains and Trails’ in Canandaigua

The Ontario County Historical Society’s “Trolleys, Trains, and Trails” walking tour continues Friday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m., beginning at the society’s headquarters, 55 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Canandaigua transportation past and present is the subject of the walking tour, which lasts about an hour. Tours, which take place rain or shine, are free, although donations are accepted. No registration is required.

4. Fall in love with Maple in Clifton Springs

The Fall in Love With Maple Festival is scheduled for Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13 from 10am to 3pm at Embers Rising Farm, 927 LaRue Road, Clifton Springs. Visitors can enjoy farm tours, fall photos, maple tree sign-ups, vendors, fall produce, sourdough, ice cream, food trucks, mustard, popcorn and more. Also see the baby goats that now call the farm home.

5. Sailing through time in the Finger Lakes

Finger Lakes Boating Museum exhibit specialist Beth Lucek shows Cornell University students one of the watercraft in the museum’s collection.

The Boating Through History in the Finger Lakes program is available to visitors to the Finger Lakes Boating Museum from Saturday, October 12 through Monday, October 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. During all three days of the fall weekend I Love NY Path Through History, subject experts will be at the museum for exclusive demonstrations and gallery talks. Daily admission to the museum is $12, with discounts for members, seniors, military, youth and more. There are no additional costs for special demonstrations and presentations. 6. See George Hayes and The Invisible Men in Canandaigua

George Hayes & The Invisible Men will perform at Central on Main, 111 S. Main St., Canandaigua, on October 12 from 5-8 p.m. Enjoy a throwback to the Hayes Brothers days and good old rock and roll. 7. Get ready for one of these nights in Canandaigua

The Eaglez will perform at the Fort Hill Performing Arts Center, 20 Fort Hill Ave., Canandaigua, on October 12 at 7 p.m. Enjoy a performance by Western New York’s original, longest-running Eagles tribute band. Tickets are available at fhpac.org or at the venue box office.

8. Pet Blessings in Canandaigua

A pet blessing and celebration of St. Francis of Assisi will take place at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 183 N. Main St., Canandaigua. The service takes place as part of the morning liturgy and is open to everyone. People are encouraged to bring their pets, stuffed animals or photos of beloved pets to the service for a blessing. “Blessing certificates” will be presented and treats will be available for pets and their owners after the service. 9. The fall book sale continues in Canandaigua

Wood Library’s fall book sale continues this week during normal hours through Sunday, Oct. 13, at the library, 134 N. Main St., Canandaigua.
