Tropical Storm Sara is expected to dissipate within 24 hours

Tropical Storm Sara is beginning to weaken the western Caribbean and is expected to dissipate over the Yucatan over the next 24 hours.

The National Hurricane Center’s 10 p.m. advisory had Sara with reduced winds of 40 mph as it slowly marched toward Belize.

The storm will continue to cause catastrophic flooding in parts of Central America, where up to 4 feet of rain is now possible.

Sara is expected to make landfall in Belize early Sunday, then cross the Yucatan and become a remnant late Sunday.

The remnants of Sara will move north into the Gulf and be swept northeast by a cold front. This will result in more rainfall in parts of Florida on Wednesday.
