Trump calls on Biden to re-enter the presidential race in a strange rant on CBS

In a Thursday post on his Truth Social platform, former President Donald Trump argued that Vice President Kamala Harris “should be investigated and forced out of the campaign,” leaving President Joe Biden “in his rightful place at the top of the Democratic Party can take back’. ticket.

Trump has not specified why he thinks Harris — who became the Republican’s rival in the race for the White House after Biden dropped his reelection bid this summer — should be investigated.

He also wrote that “CBS MUST LOSE ITS LICENSE,” a demand Trump has previously made. He appeared to base his claim on a complaint filed Wednesday with the Federal Communications Commission by the Center for American Rights, a legal group.

The complaint alleges that CBS engaged in “news distortion” by editing a “60 Minutes” interview with Harris because some of her comments in a preview of the interview were different from those in another version that aired on TV.

“THIS IS THE BIGGEST SCANDAL IN BROADCAST HISTORY,” Trump wrote.

The FCC licenses individual broadcasters, not TV networks, so it would not have the power to meet Trump’s Truth Social demand.

FCC Chairman Jessica Rosenworcel has previously warned that Trump’s calls for license revocation amount to “threats to freedom of expression.”

“While repeated attacks on broadcasters by the former president may now seem familiar, these threats against freedom of expression are serious and should not be ignored,” Rosenworcel said in a statement last week.

“As I have said before, the First Amendment is a cornerstone of our democracy. The FCC will not revoke broadcast station licenses simply because a political candidate disagrees with or dislikes the content or reporting.”

Meanwhile, Harris had a 30-minute interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier on Wednesday. Trump recently pulled out of previously scheduled interviews with not only “60 Minutes,” but also CNBC.
