President-elect Donald Trump said Tuesday he would nominate former Fox News personality Kimberly Guilfoyle and his longtime billionaire friend Tom Barrack as ambassadors to Greece and Turkey, respectively.
Trump made the announcements in a pair of social media posts.
“For thirty years, Tom successfully led a global private equity firm,” Trump wrote of Barrack on Truth Social. “He is a highly respected and experienced voice of reason for a wide range of thought leaders in both political and business circles.”
Barrack, who founded the private equity firm Colony Capital and chaired Trump’s inaugural committee in 2017, was acquitted in 2022 of charges that he acted as an unregistered foreign agent for the United Arab Emirates during the Trump administration and subsequently made false statements to the FBI.
In a separate post announcing his selection of her as ambassador to Greece, Trump called Guilfoyle, who announced in 2022 that she was engaged to his son Donald Trump Jr., a longtime “close friend and ally.”
“Kimberly is ideally suited to maintain strong bilateral relations with Greece and advance our interests on issues ranging from defense cooperation to trade and economic innovation,” Trump wrote.
Both positions require Senate confirmation. Guilfoyle said Tuesday she looks forward to securing that support.
“As ambassador, I look forward to delivering on the Trump agenda, supporting our Greek allies and ushering in a new era of peace and prosperity,” Guilfoyle wrote on X.
Trump also appointed Ronald Johnson — not the senator — as ambassador to Mexico on Tuesday.
“Ron will work closely with our great Secretary of State nominee, Marco Rubio, to advance our nation’s security and prosperity through a strong America First Foreign Policy,” Trump said on Truth Social.
Johnson served as ambassador to El Salvador during Trump’s first administration, from 2019 to 2021.
Before assuming that role, he was the CIA’s science and technology liaison to U.S. Special Operations Command and served in the Army and Alabama National Guard.
Last month, Trump said he would nominate Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law Jared Kushner, as ambassador to France in his new administration.
He also appointed Massad Boulous, whose son is married to Trump’s youngest daughter, Tiffany Trump, as senior adviser for Arab and Middle East affairs.
