Former President Donald Trump will meet with a group of Republican senators in Washington, D.C., this week, four sources with knowledge of the meeting told NBC News.
Trump will meet senators on Thursday after a speech to the Business Roundtable, a lobbying group.
Sen. Johannes Barrasso, R-Wyo., told fellow GOP senators in an email obtained by NBC News that he was inviting Trump to meet with Republican senators. “I think it will be helpful to hear directly from President Trump about his plans for the summer and also to share our ideas for a strategic governance agenda in 2025,” wrote Barrasso, the No. 3 in the Senate Republican leadership.
A senior Trump campaign official confirmed that this will be a policy event that will include “looking ahead to the policies that will save the nation, such as Trump’s pledge not to impact seniors through cuts to Social Security or Medicare , a policy that actually safeguards our safety.” making borders and our communities safe again, and an American foreign policy that regains peace through strength and global leadership, and an economic policy of lower taxes that revives the vibrant Trump economy of just a few years ago.”
