Trump’s campaign reports raising $331 million in the second quarter of the year, surpassing Biden’s haul

NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump’s campaign says it outspent President Joe Biden in the second quarter of the year, reporting $331 million in revenue.

That figure surpasses the $264 million that Biden’s reelection campaign and the Democratic National Committee reported earlier Tuesday they had raised in the same period, wiping out Biden’s financial advantage and potentially undermining Biden’s efforts to calm the unrest within his party after his disastrous debate performance last week, which prompted calls for him to resign.

Trump’s total includes $111.8 million the campaign said it raised in June. That figure is less than the $127 million Biden reported raising last month, which includes more than $33 million raised on the day of the debate and in its aftermath.

But Trump’s campaign said it ended the quarter with $284.9 million in cash, compared to the $240 million Biden reported.

“President Trump’s campaign fundraising is booming day after day, month after month,” Trump campaign senior advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles said in a statement, noting that Biden’s much higher advertising spending appears to be having no effect.

“This fundraising momentum is likely to increase even further as we head toward a world-class convention and watch Democrats continue their circular firing squad after Biden’s debate failure,” they added.

Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez called his totals “a testament to the dedicated and growing base of supporters who are solidly behind the president.”
