Two men are dead and a 17-year-old girl is in the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds after a shooting late Sunday at a South Natomas apartment complex.
The fatal shooting occurred after a large party at the Woodlands Apartments complex in the 2000 block of West El Camino Avenue at Azevedo Drive, police said. Sacramento homicide detectives were expected to be at the apartments Monday morning to scour the scene for clues to the violence.
“Our detectives will be out this morning, knocking on doors, talking to witnesses and looking at surveillance footage,” Sacramento police spokesman Anthony Gamble told reporters at the scene. “Our hearts are with the families of the deceased and our thoughts and prayers are with the victim who is in hospital. We want to know who did this.”
Gamble said the two men were dead when officers arrived, both pronounced dead by fire department personnel. Gamble said the girl who survived was hospitalized in stable condition.
The identities of the slain men were expected to be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once family members are notified.
“We will find out what that involvement was with the party and the shooting and talk to any witnesses,” Gamble said.
No suspects have been arrested, police said. Gamble urged anyone with any information to call Sacramento police at 916-808-5471.
“Even though it seems small to you, it could be very important to our research,” Gamble said.
