Two people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds after an early morning shooting on Detroit’s Lodge Freeway, police said. A third person was injured in a related car accident that occurred later.
The incident happened at 1:30 a.m. Sunday at the north Lodge (M-10) near Seven Mile Road in Detroit, Michigan State Police said in a social media post.
“Detectives continue to search for evidence and interview witnesses,” Lt. Mike Shaw said. “We are currently working to determine exactly what happened and any possible suspect(s). If you have any information, please call 855.MICH.TIP or Crime Stoppers at 800 SPEAK.UP.”

A call to the Detroit Regional Communication Center reported a single vehicle crash on the Lodge Freeway near McNichols Road, with the caller reporting they had been shot at and were hiding, MSP said. According to police, a second crash occurred when a vehicle struck the victim’s abandoned vehicle.
Police closed Lodge Highway for investigation pending further investigation.
MSP said the caller’s vehicle had bullet holes and the driver, an 18-year-old from West Bloomfield, and the passenger, a 19-year-old from Southfield, were found with gunshot wounds to their arms. Both victims were listed in temporary serious condition at a local hospital, police said. The driver of the secondary accident suffered minor injuries.
Police have not publicly identified the victims or a possible motive for the shooting. It is unclear where police found the victims with the gunshot wounds.
Police are conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.
