Dec 27 – DAZEY, ND – Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash near Dazey Thursday afternoon, Dec. 26, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Shelby Olson, 31, Cooperstown, North Dakota, was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu with passenger Charles Olson, 34, Cooperstown, northbound on ND Highway 1 on Thursday around 4 p.m., while Jack Fehr, 20, Wimbledon, North Dakota, was in drove a 1997. Peterbilt is towing a 2019 Wilson trailer eastbound on Barnes County Road 4.
The patrol said Fehr failed to yield at the stop intersection with ND Highway 1 and began crossing the intersection. Olson then struck the passenger side of the Peterbilt in the drive tires, the patrol said.
The patrol said Olson’s vehicle had the right of way at the intersection.
Shelby and Charles Olson were transported by Barnes County Ambulance to CHI Mercy Hospital in Valley City for non-life-threatening injuries, the patrol said.
The patrol said Shelby Olson was wearing a seat belt and an airbag deployed. Charles Olson was unrestrained and an airbag deployed, the patrol said. Fehr was wearing a seat belt.
The patrol said Fehr was cited for failing to yield at a stop intersection.
The patrol said the Olsons’ dog, Daphne, wandered off into a pool area after the crash. The Barnes County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding the dog. If anyone sees a dog in the crash area, contact the Barnes County Dispatch Center at (701) 845-8181 or call 911.
The patrol is investigating the crash.
