MOORE, Okla. (KFOR) – Two men are facing charges in connection with street racing and the murder of a Moore woman.

Isaiah Lancaster and Devon Davis have both been charged with first-degree manslaughter.

Lancaster and Davis were reportedly street racing on I-35 on June 8, killing 26-year-old Marissa Byrd.

It was an emotional roller coaster for Misty Goldman, Byrd’s mother.

“I kind of just want to curl up,” Goldman said. “You go from being angry to trying to cope.”

Court documents show Lancaster and Davis admitted to drinking before getting behind the wheel.

“Drinking and driving is of course not good. Something is going to happen, but when you add the racing on top of that, what did they think the outcome would be?” said Goudman.

According to documents, Lancaster was behind the wheel of a red Mustang GT and was driving along the “inside shoulder” of I-35 when he struck the barrier wall and lost control.

The impact caused a chain reaction of chaos that destroyed a total of five vehicles and killed Byrd.

Davis, the other suspect, was in a Dodge Charger and “landed on the roof,” according to court documents.

Goldman said that because of their careless actions, her daughter’s life was unfairly cut short.

“She was a really good person. She truly cared for others. She carried this aura with her. She was always happy, cheerful and lively, even if she had a bad day, no one would know. She was a really good person,” Goldman said.

Both Lancaster and Davis have been released on bail.

They must appear in court again on July 23.
