Two Mountain Home women are charged with first-degree murder. Body found in Owyhee County

Three years after the crimes were allegedly committed, two Mountain Home women have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, failure to report a death, kidnapping and exploitation of a vulnerable adult, according to the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office.

A third suspect committed suicide during a standoff on Sunday, police said.

The Sheriff’s Office said in a news release on social media Wednesday that it received a report last Friday of a possible homicide that occurred three years ago. Detectives were able to gather information and locate a cemetery in a remote location in Owyhee County, where the reported victim’s remains were found, according to the release.

Elmore County detectives were then able to determine probable cause to arrest three people in the killing, authorities said. Law enforcement was dispatched Sunday to the 900 block of West 4th Street in Mountain Home, where two suspects were reportedly inside a residence. After a standoff of about two hours, one of the suspects surrendered to police.

The second suspect was later found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Later that evening, detectives said they took a third suspect into custody without incident.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this time out of respect for the family, the online release said.
