Two officers arrested in Louisiana for excessive force against an inmate. Here’s what we know

Two Caddo Parish Correctional officers have been arrested for allegedly using excessive force against an inmate.

Sheriff Henry Whitehorn announced Thursday morning that an ongoing investigation has revealed that Preston Eichelberger and Corey Steadman used excessive force against an inmate while serving as correctional deputies.

Eichelberger was hired into the department in March 2022 and Steadman in January 2020.

Eichelberger was charged with two counts of aggravated battery and two counts of criminal mischief while in office.

Steadman was charged with one count of aggravated battery, one count of second-degree battery and two counts of criminal mischief in office.

They were both committed to Caddo Correctional Facility on these charges.
