Two Philadelphia men have been arrested after recklessly driving onto a sidewalk and hitting a 13-year-old girl in Abington Township on Friday afternoon, police said.

According to Abington Township police, two men were driving through the intersection of Jenkintown Road and Abington Avenue around 3:45 p.m. when they ran a red light and struck another car that had the right of way.

Police identified the two Philadelphia men in the car as Jason MacDonald, 21, and Goldwin Prince, 21.

After the initial crash, MacDonald drove the car onto the sidewalk and struck a 13-year-old girl who was standing nearby talking to a crossing guard, police said. According to police, the 13-year-old had just been helped across the street by a crossing guard before she was hit.

According to police, MacDonald and Prince then jumped out of the car and began running away before being detained and arrested by Abington police officers.
