Sept. 22 – A Rio Arriba County woman and an Albuquerque man are accused of killing a man over money in northeast Albuquerque more than a year ago.
Jasmine Trujillo, 30, of Alcalde is charged with murder and aggravated burglary in connection with the April 2023 death of Larry Norsworthy, 60.
Trujillo is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center. It is unclear where or when she was arrested. Her attorney could not be reached for comment Sunday.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Jarrett Chacon, 26, of Albuquerque. He also faces open charges of murder and aggravated burglary, according to court records.
Court records show Trujillo pleaded guilty in July 2023 to attempting to receive or transfer a stolen vehicle after being arrested with Chacon in a May incident. Police said they recognized the suspects on the MDC custody list from that arrest. She was given a suspended sentence while Chacon’s case was dismissed.
According to an online obituary, Norsworthy was known for “teasing everyone, especially his grandchildren.”
“’Crazy Grandpa’ will be missed by all who knew him,” the obituary read.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan Court, police were able to identify Trujillo and Chacon through surveillance cameras during their search.
On April 4, 2023 at 12:35 p.m., Albuquerque Police responded to a report of an unattended death in the 200 block of Charleston, near Central.
According to the complaint, when they arrived, a man told them he had found his father — later identified as Norsworthy — dead on the bathroom floor. The Office of the Medical Investigators initially ruled it an unattended death, but later ruled it a homicide due to blunt force trauma to the chest.
The complaint states that the victim’s son told police he saw a man — later identified as Trujillo and Chacon — with a woman in his father’s SUV. He told police Trujillo and Chacon fled after making eye contact with them. The SUV was later found at an apartment on Monroe, near San Mateo, along with Norsworthy’s stolen bank cards.
Police said Norsworthy told police on April 2 that Trujillo had stolen his SUV. That same day, police said, someone told them that Trujillo said that because Norsworthy had changed the codes on his phone app, she and Chacon were going to go into the victim’s apartment “and punch out his bank codes so they could steal his Social Security payment.”
According to the complaint, Norsworthy’s neighbor told police on April 3 that he woke up to “a loud bang” coming from the victim’s apartment. Police said he told them they heard Norsworthy say, “Get the fuck off of me, get the fuck off of me,” before they saw two people — including the suspect — leave the apartment.
During a 2023 interview with Trujillo at MDC, police said she told them she did not kill Norsworthy and that it was Chacon who “must have done it without telling her.”
APD spokesperson Rebecca Atkins said anyone with tips about the case can call Crime Stoppers at 505-843-STOP or go to p3tips.com/531.
