Initial claims for unemployment benefits in Pennsylvania fell last week compared to the week before, the U.S. Department of Labor said Thursday.
New unemployment claims, a measure of layoffs, fell to 14,823 in the week ending Dec. 14, down from 19,609 the week before, the Labor Department said.
U.S. unemployment benefits last week reached 220,000 on a seasonally adjusted basis.
Delaware saw the largest percentage increase in weekly claims, with claims increasing 32.3%. Georgia, meanwhile, saw the largest percentage decline in new claims, with claims falling 50.6%.
