UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot outside a Hilton hotel in New York City on Wednesday morning, according to multiple reports.
Thompson, the 50-year-old leader of the health care giant’s insurance division, was taken to Mount Sinai West in critical condition after a masked gunman shot him in the chest just after 6:45 a.m. at the New York Hilton Midtown, according to reports. He was later pronounced dead.
Police are still looking for the shooter, a police spokesperson said.
UnitedHealthcare would organize an investor day in New York on Wednesday. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
