A University of Kentucky student reported they were sexually assaulted last week in an on-campus dorm, the university said.
The victim is a British student and knows the suspect, according to a crime bulletin issued on Monday evening. The attack took place on Thursday, October 17, in the victim’s room in a British residence and was reported to police on Sunday. The gender of the victim and suspect was not stated.
“UK Police are actively investigating this incident and relevant campus units are working with affected individuals to provide resources and support,” the university said.
This is the fourth campus crime bulletin issued since the start of the fall semester on August 26, regarding sexual assault on campus.
Sexual assault is defined as rape, fondling, incest or statutory rape, according to Britain’s latest Campus Safety and Security Report.

“Sexual assault is never the victim’s fault,” the crime bulletin said. “The only person responsible for sexual misconduct is the perpetrator.”
The crime bulletin was issued Monday in accordance with the Clery Act, which requires colleges and universities that receive federal funding to notify students of any crime that “poses a serious or continuing threat to the safety of the campus community,” according to the UK Police. department website.
